Like I said yesterday we lost a guest room and gained a nursery. While it's not a huge, huge deal our guest room actually had a lot of guests! Some pretty hilarious memories were made in there by practically all my friends. So when I started cleaning it out all I could think was "where the hell is this stuff going to go?"
On top of it, all of David's stuff took residence in that room - because I managed to take up every inch of closet and dresser in our bedroom. (Remember we are renters in the Bay Area - you don't get a lot of space! But you also don't get tornadoes...) So last night at 10:45 I had the envision of a total bedroom makeover. Knowing that David probably wouldn't be on board so late at night had me thinking I could do it myself.
Yeah...8 months pregnant not so brilliant. But we managed to fit it all in our room and our room actually feels larger!! Don't ask me how but it does, even David agrees.
Now I want to organize everything from under the kitchen sink to the linen closet. Knowing full well that the house will never be this organized or clean again in 8 short weeks.
Which is where this whole blog post is going to the mamas...
I purposely have not filled the top drawer of the dresser/changing table in the nursery and wanted some tips and tricks of what exactly to store in it. I have a diaper caddy with lotion, wipes, diapers, nail cutters, pacifiers, and some butt paste. But what will I want at arms reach but not necessarily in eyes sight?
Always look forward to getting input from you guys! xoxo
And a picture - because what is a blog post without a photo? This is how my husband started his day yesterday. Proof that pregnancy brain is contagious :)
This is hilarious! I'm only 16 weeks and we spent the weekend cleanin gout our entire basement bc i was sick of the mess! We are having a garage sale this weekend in hopes of getting rid of everything! I hope this isn't signs of early "nesting"! PS - I'm hosting a Pink Blush Maternity giveaway on my blog today! You should stop by! :)
ReplyDeleteYay for starting the nursury! Can't wait to see the progress you little nester!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how everything turns out!! I wish I was nesting - at least that would mean more organizing lol!
ReplyDeleteThat pregnancy brain photo is hilarious! So excited for you with the nursery, love the sneak peak on IG! That lamp is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWait till P. comes and $50 says that dog food becomes a smoothie hah.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Classic photo...8 weeks?! Ahhh! We need to plan a blog date soon so I can rub that bellay! (or not, if you don't like people rubbing your belly...) LOL! ;)
ReplyDeletewant to come nest my house up a bit. we could use some rearranging.
ReplyDeleteObviously I don't have any tips for you but that pic is hysterical! Poor David!
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you, babe. I spent the last 3 nights organizing our medicine/hall closet upstairs. THREE NIGHTS. Purging, organizing, labeling, sorting, etc. It looks awesome! The drawers in our wine cabinet are next!! Now I want to do the rest of the house. But there's no way I have the time or energy to do it before Mim arrives. I need to pick my battles. As for baby things you'll need close by - burp cloths (we had a spitter, so we needed tons of them), pacifiers (if she takes one), snot sucker, gripe water, nipple cream, nursing pads, pony tail holders (for you), socks, bibs, chapstick.
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny! Glad y'all got the space thing figured out! I really can't wait to see the final nursery!
ReplyDeletenesting is a real thing. i know this because my least domestic/nesty friend went nuts for nesting the last two months of pregnancy. my stepmom nested the whole time she was pregnant. lol
ReplyDeleteI secretly love the nesting stage! I actually bleached & scrubbed down our garbage cans at one point! Top drawer of the dresser is just diapers for us, although we use cloth so they take up all that space!
ReplyDeleteHahaha on my gosh, I'm so glad David caught that before grinding up Finley's food!! Yikes!!
ReplyDeleteThat photo is hilarious! My boyfriend tells me all the time I am nesting (I'm not even pregnant) I can't imagine the extreme nesting that is to come. Don't you just love a good re-org? Life changing :)
ReplyDeletexo, Megan Ann
I'm not even pregnant and I'm always nesting! Well.. organizing and cleaning and throwing everything away. But that's kind of like nesting right?! Haha! It sounds like your nesting habits have been great ones so that's always a good thing!! :) Yay for more room!
ReplyDeleteLove that picture!!! You are almost there!! :)!!
